Color Psychology:
USING THE SCIENCE OF COLOR TO AFFECT HOW YOU FEEL
Do you wish you knew how to use color as a tool to affect the way that you feel in your home? Do you get frustrated when trying to pull together a color palette on your own? Do you have a vision that you just can't quite achieve? Colors have vibrations that create universal emotional responses as well as individual responses based on our memories and experiences.
Color has always been a guiding factor in how I moved through the world. I was born with very poor eyesight. It wasn't corrected until I was in first grade. My sister loves to tell the story of when we drove into the driveway the first time after I got my glasses. I yelled out, "Mommy, the trees have leaves!" It never occurred to me that you could actually see the leaves on the trees. I think that was one of the reasons I became hyper-sensitive to color. Where other people saw contrast and harsh lines, everything blended together in my eyes.
I started drawing and painting very young. My parents enrolled me in my first art classes at 8. Often I would find myself taking my glasses off for a second to "see something better." It made me a very slow painter. And frustrated my teacher. Now that I spend my days analyzing and choosing colors for others, I understand. I squint my eyes and let things fall out of focus to see how an individual color is going to play throughout a space.
It's funny how your demons become your super powers when you embrace them!
In this episode, I unpack the universal influences as well as how memories and experiences play into emotional responses to color to help you use color as a tool to help you up level your home in ways you never imagined it could.
